I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. Her paws scraped about on the muddy old gravel road, oblivious to the falling rain that was soaking into her thick coat. Her dark lashes flicked and her eyes changed direction, peering into the horizon where the left road led. It looked like it was storming far away, and the clouds were moving in her direction. She shifted her head to the right as the wind blew the white tufts on her cheeks. It was clearer that way, but it still had sort of... a deadly appearance. It was like both ways led to hell. How could the old legend ever be true? If both roads led to destruction, how could they lead to a paradise? Perhaps no one had walked far enough yet... although she quickly shook that thought out of her head. The place had to be easy to get to; easy enough for even the pups to get in to. She looked down at the ground as the water dribbled off of her wet ears and nose and started scratching the ground incessantly and looking for anything that might be unnatural. Although what she found... was nothing. Of course. She sat down on her haunches and looked up at the sky, squinting her dark eyes in attempt to keep rain out of them. How could the legends ever be true? Until she arrived to Canaan, she never believed in supernatural forces; although nowadays she was starting to wonder. "Just... keep befriending the dogs, Fellixe," she told herself, "the road will open one day... Hopefully." wordcount: 256

He was in a good mood, oddly. It'd been a while since he felt this.. light. He dug his right paw-mainly his claws- into the ground, trying to grasp at what he could sense around him. His left paw hung limply, as he walked-or rather, limped. The earth was very damp, and it fogged his "vision," forcing him to slow his pace down. Rain; that seemed the only explanation for the dampness of the ground along with the fact that he was getting wet. He sighed slightly to himself, giving up on moving along for now. His senses were not honed enough; he still hadn't adapted to living in the wild.
He had no idea where he was at right now, since he was still adjusting to this new land. He knew he had to be on guard at all times judging from the descriptions he'd heard, but times like now would be his weak spot. He knew he had to stop before he truly ran straight into danger's unwelcoming arms.
Not sure if there was anywhere he could go to shelter himself, he just sat back on his haunches, waiting for the rain clouds to pass by so he could continue his journey to absolutely nowhere. He lowered his gaze to the ground, his eyes staring blankly at the ground. Driblets of water ran down from his shaggy fur, some of it landing in his eyes. He blinked quickly, trying to get the annoying liquid out from his them. After repeating this process for a few minutes, he just decided he'd close his eyes. It's not as if the world would look any different to him if he did.
"The troubles of a mutt.." he sighed quietly to himself, sniffing slightly to see if he could smell anything just yet. His not-yet-feral senses were still useless still. "I hope the rain will pass quickly..

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. Just as Fellixe thought that life couldn't get any stranger to her in Canaan, she smelled someone else's scent. Hmm... she thought. A male. And with wolf blood coursing through his veins as well, although not fully. She turned to leave and started to walk away slowly, but then stopped. She twisted her head around and sniffed, only a faint scent entering her nostrils. She had to be nice, she reminded herself, and so she rotated her direction and trudged slowly toward the scent. The rain created a wall blocking her vision, although she quickly made out a dark figure in front of her. She kept walking and stopped only when she was several feet away from the stranger. She cocked her head to one side and slitted her eyes. With a puppy expression, she said, "Why are you out in the rain? You're getting soaked to death. And I thought I was the only one who had no common sense about the weather..." She smiled, but it quickly faded as she saw the canine's blank stare. She knew that stare; she'd seen it before. He was blind; the curse of no-vision. What a black world it must be. She then thought that maybe things wouldn't be so awkward if she kept talking. "Are you lost? I can help you find shelter if you'd like. This isn't the most comfortable place to be in the rain. Oh well... I guess I can't say anything. Hehe... I'm out here. Anyway... What's your name?" She wagged her tail, knowing that he couldn't see it, but hoping that he would sense the happy energy. She loved most canines, and was warm-hearted to those that needed help. wordcount: 283

About to space out, he found himself being dragged back to reality by a voice. He was immediately on edge, nervous of his well being. After all, a blind and off-guard mutt was better off as a dead one to his owner. He wouldn't doubt that that was true to someone else as well.
By the sound of the stranger's voice, he could tell it was a female. He just listed intently as she talked about the weather and asked his reason for being out here. He didn't like to interrupt, for it was rude, and rudeness seemed to run others off. She seemed to pause for a short while before continuing on. He didn't think too much of it; it wasn't wrong to pause before speaking, after all.
After she had finished speaking, he felt it was his time to answer. "I suppose this isn't the most comfortable place to stop for a bit, but to me, there really is nowhere to go.."
He could feel some more of the driblets rushing down his head, narrowly avoiding his eyes, much to his enjoyment. The happy aura in the air made him feel a bit less on edge, and since he had no hope of himself finding his way around with his weakened senses, he felt it would be better to ask for help while he could still get it.
"I don't think some help getting somewhere where the rain won't attack my eyes would be too bad, either. It's better than being as assaulted by the rain as I am right now," he tried to joke, knowing he regularly failed at it. It didn't hurt to try, though. Especially since he was in his good mood right now.
"Also, my name is Kenryoku. Nice to meet you. May I ask who you are?"

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. "Hmm hmm..." Fellixe laughed gently, smoothly. She approached the dog, sensing a low aura of agression, and nudged his shoulder with her nose, inhaling the smell of wet fur. "My name is Fellixe. Follow me." she started off in front of him, touching her feet to the ground and making sure they made noise so that he could easily follow. The rain started bulleting out of the sky, hitting them with a lot more force than before. Her fur, by now, was incredibly soaked through, and was dripping a trail behind her; even if she wasn't making so much racket walking, he would more than likely be able to follow her scent trail. "So tell me," Fellixe started, "Why do you believe you have nowhere to go? Did some of the destructive humans bring you here, or did you wander right in?" Fellixe suddenly became thoughtful to herself. Why would anybody ever want to wander into here? In Canaan... which literally meant "promised land"... such a lie. But then again, why did I choose to come here? I should have been out by now... I can't live my life trying to make others happy... Her paws started to hit the ground gently, more natural, and her ears rested themselves back in a worrying emotion. They went forward once again as she realized a turn of thought. My life is making others happy... The smile returned to her face once again. She looked back to make sure that he was still behind her.

He stood up quickly, not wanting to be too slow. He could slightly sense vibrations in the ground, and he guessed it was her moving. His own body was heavy, soaked through with unwanted water. He sunk slightly into the ground, and he quickly stepped to avoid sinking further. His bandages were covered in mud now, but he could always swim in a lake to clean them or something similar.
He could feel the rain pounding on him now, making his already heavy coat even heavier. He sighed to himself, feeling that the weather was against him- as always. "Seems the weather likes to assault animals especially."
He heard Fellixe speak to him, and he listened intently until she stopped. The memories of his owner rushed back to him, reminding him of the abuse he'd suffered at the hands of humans. "I believe.. that I have nowhere to go because no human wants a mutt. Especially not one who has wolf blood."
"No, humans didn't bring me here," he stated, seeming to stare at the ground. He didn't like thinking about them very often. But, he could grin and bear it. "I brought myself here. I want to get away from them."
He could slightly sense a sudden change in moods through the fog of rain. He wondered what was going on, but quickly pushed the thought aside. 'There's no need for me to get nosy..'

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. Fellixe's brows knitted together and she stopped to glance back at him. She shook her head, slitting her eyes. "This... isn't the best place to get away from humans. You do know that, right?" After a short pause, she turned back around and began to walk again. Her paws sloshed through the mud-and-grass mixture, not exactly knowing where she was taking them herself. She looked around, vaguely, quickly, and she finally saw something that looked slightly inviting in the distance. A few large boulders lay side by side, and smaller pebbles filled in the gaps. A fallen tree lay directly over it, with its leaves constantly dripping like tears. It wouldn't be completely dry, but at least it would shelter them fairly well from the whipping wind and stinging rain. She was a bit baffled by one of his answers. "Why would you want to be with a human, when they will only put you out here in this death zone? And what is a mutt, some sort of mix of wolf and dog? Might this have something to do with your odd scent?" She inhaled it once again, through the rain. It's like half of him was wolf... the other half was foreign, like the dogs that she so often felt like helping. Was it possible to want to be with one of these humans? So many questions surfaced her mind, swimming and popping up one by one. She struggled to keep them back, trying her very best to not overwhelm him; it wasn't every day she got to do something nice for someone else, or in fact make a friend, which she very much hoped she was accomplishing. They were almost to the shelter now, which looked even more inviting as they were near it with less distance in between. She hoped that she hadn't asked too many questions at once.

He began to wonder why he had wandered into this land. His scenses were clogged most of the time, and he was practically useless in general. "This may not be the right place to escape them.. but I'd rather die than go back."
"I don't think you could exactly call me 'wanting to be with humans'. All they is cause us suffering: dog, wolf and everything in between," he lowered his head more, wanting to avoid the barrage of rain. "I'd rather die out here than go back."
He was a bit surprised though; it wasn't everday that he met a wolf that didn't know what a mutt was. Maybe he was heading to a good place, whether it was called that or not. "As for a 'mutt'.. Well.. I don't usually like to badmouth myself, but a mutt is what humans call a cross-breed. Like, two dogs mixed together. But then again, to most of them, a dog and a wolf is the same."
He couldn't slow his pace much, or his paw would sink into the mud. He didn't like to walk on his left paw. He'd rather not walk at all, if he had the choice..
At the meantion of his scent, he raised a brow. He didn't know he smelled different than other dogs or wolves at all. Then again, it could've just been him ignoring the difference between him and them.. "My scent is different? I've never noticed before."

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. For once, Fellixe wasn’t confused about her new acquaintance. She agreed almost to entirety; most humans were evil, driven by an inexplicable force to kill off all nature, its beauty, and turn it into a land where man ruled supreme and there was no equality between man and wolf... or even dog, she supposed. They were scary creatures, harnessing life around the neck and being able to lead it any which way they pleaded. It was sheer horror the way they normally got what they want. She felt a bit invasive to ask why he didn’t want to go “back,” whatever that must mean, and she contemplated asking him or not in her mind. Before she knew it, she was standing in front of the shelter looking up at the overhang. Her paws lightly rested on the ground and she peered in, noticing that it would be a lot more comfortable than she first perceived. There was literally no rain dripping inside, and the tree was sheltering all of it. This would be such a fantastic place to make a burrow, underground under those boulders, she thought to herself. She glanced back at Kenryoku and came back to the moment. ”Uh... Kenryoku, sorry. Go on ahead, it’s right in front of us.” She was suddenly wary of her recent words to him, which would utterly indicate that she knew he was blind. Her ears fled back and forth, hoping he wouldn’t notice. ”What do you mean? About going back that is?” That’s all she decided to say. She didn’t want to seem too inquisitive by asking so many questions. wordcount: 267 Look for me in the white forest, Hiding in a hollow tree...

An odd silence started, and he wondered if he had said something wrong. He thought he was completely right about humans; at least, the ones he'd been in contact with. They had no compassion for the animals that stood loyally by them, no matter how hard they tried. He knocked the thoughts aside before he'd change moods again.
He felt that she had stopped, and halted a few inches back.. At least, what he guessed what was inches. The silence continued, and he lifted his head slightly, imitating what would be a "gaze" for those who would actually see something. He licked his muzzle, tasting the rain water mixed in with the taste of his fur. He didn't find it as a pleasing taste, either.
At this point, his fur was sticking to his skin, and he knew he probably looked more scrawny than usual. His ears were twitching ocausionally, shaking out the driblets that wandered into his perked ears. Since there was barely anything happening at the moment, he lowered them close to his head, wanting to salvage what poor senses he had now. An ear infection or an ear full of water was something he could afford to get at this point.
He heard Fellixe speak out at one point, and he perked his ears quickly to try and catch what she was saying. He caught the end of the sentence, and found himself confused. 'What's in front of her?' Without noticing, he stared blankly, mouth open slightly. She spoke again, catching him off-guard. He heard the sentence this time, luckily.
"I don't think I'd find going to humans quite enjoyable." He turned his head, knowing he'd been "staring" once again. He really needed to get rid of that habit.. After, what did a blind mutt need to stare for? "If I were to go back to my owner," he emphasized "owner" with distaste, "I'm pretty sure he'd kill me on the spot."

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. Fellixe chuckled gently and lightly, as if reading his confused mind. ”The shelter, dear,” she started, ”It’s right in front of us. We’ll be able to keep out of the rain for a while.” She padded around behind him and nudged him once again, but this time didn’t stop until she had successfully led him inside. ”It’s amazing what kind of natural shelters that trees and boulders can make, isn’t it?” she sniffed around the edges of the boulders, as well as the darkly shadowed leaves of the huge fallen tree, when a raindrop fell on her nose. She unconsciously sneezed and shook her head, flinging the rain that had previously doused her head in every which way. She instantly stopped, hoping she hadn’t gotten any water droplets on Kenryoku. She looked over her shoulder to see no wetness on him, to her good fortune. She sighed. ”So... I don’t mean to pry,” she said casually, but secretly full of curiosity. ”May I ask, what happened with the last, um... owner you had?” she hoped that her inquisition wasn’t too nosy. But the humans had always intrigued her. She was utterly timid of them, like most wolves should be. She’d heard enough stories from around Canaan, as well. wordcount: 217

He heard her chuckle, twitching his ears slightly. He knew his look must've been completely obvious, and he found himself staring at the ground in embarassment. I have to stop being so obvious, he thought to himself, realizing why she was making her movements so obvious to anyone with eyesight, let alone his bad senses. Before being able to think again or react, he found himself being nudged somewhere.
He knew he had to stop spacing out. She'd said something again and he hadn't heard again, he guessed. He felt drier suddenly, though; he supposed she had pushed him into the shelter that was supposedly ahead of her. It was not too long before she spoke again, and he was listening this time. "To me, it's odd how all nature works.."
He licked, lying down since he really had no reason to be standing up now. He heard a noise not too long after; it sounded like when he shook himself off. He lost attention from it right away as he thought of resting a bit. He wouldn't be going out for a while, after all, the ground would still be muddy after the rain stopped. Fellixe spoke once again, turning his attention away from the thought of just sprawling out on the ground.
His anger rose as his owner was shown as the subject of the question. He swallowed his anger; manners were all he had now, after all. But he didn't want to talk too much about him, either. "Let's just say.. I am the way I am now because of him. Disabilities and all."

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. She gasped, but it was quiet. Cocking her head to the side, she started to wonder. Do humans survive only to hurt us? It was a quite a large subject to comtemplate, and she hid it in the back of her mind to think about later on. She sat on her haunches, leaning forward with her forelegs propping her up and continued on her search of the opposite canine's past. "He made you... blind?" she choked on the word, and started to notice the dog's severe agitation toward the mentioning of his past owner. "But... why? Why would he do such a thing? Did you ever do anything to him?" Surely he must have done something. Or were humans so entirely heartless that they would do anything for the kind of dominance that satisfies them? To calm the aura of the moment, Fellixe lowered herself to the ground at the same level of Kenryoku. She kicked her hind legs out behind her and crossed her front paws one over another, yawning sleepily. Her stomach growled, and then she remembered that the last time she had eaten anything was about three days ago. She wondered when Kenryoku had eaten last, and she decided to ask him later if he never mentioned it first. wordcount: 212 [OOC] Sorry my posts have been kinda short today >.<

"He was not a kind man, in short terms. We were numbers to him," he muttered, placing his head on his paws, closing his eyes right away. "He didn't care about the lives of any animal. And that eventually spread around the kennel."
His bandages were beginning to dry; he could feel it. They tightening around his paws again. "I didn't directly do anything to him, just like he didn't directly cause these injuries. The blind loyalty of a dog to his owner- good or not- was what caused this. I guess bear claws to the head really brings out the common sense in a mutt."
He didn't want to talk any further. The laziness was close to overbearing; he knew he had to get up now or he wasn't going to be able to later. He licked his muzzle, blankly staring ahead as he always did. He could barely remember what he had been doing before it started raining. The signs of getting old..
His stomach was tingling slightly, and he began to debate whether or not he should get something to eat. He knew it'd be extremely difficult to get something to once he was left alone again.. That was all the convincing he needed. A difficult situation would possibly be avoided..
"Say, are you hungry?" It was better for him to change topics; after all, he wasn't going to talk anymore about his owner. He rose his head from his paws, once again staring with his blank gaze.

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. Fellixe shook her head, trying horribly to picture such a life. Kenryoku had to have been scared. No, more than scared... she thought. He had to have been terrified. Angry. Confused. Such a life deserved the phrase, 'Why me.' Her ears went back as soon as he mentioned the word 'bear.' Fellixe had seen them before. She occasionally ran across a bear's path on her way up from her chilly, wind-burning climate, and she knew how frightening and large they were. Their claws resembled giant black knives glued to their much-too-big paws, and their teeth served as ripping daggers that would tear anything that they though was an annoyance apart. She did recall, however, that they didn't have the keenest eyesight in the world. She blinked and ran a paw down her muzzle, digging her claws in as she did so. As soon as Kenryoku changed the topic quickly, Fellixe blinked and came back into reality, where the rain was falling hard outside, and the mud was becoming a danger. She yawned and stood up as well, stretching longways as she did so. 'Tis too bad... she thought. I feel like we just sat down. When she heard him mention hunger, her own stomach growled, and this time it was very audible. She gave an embarrassed look at him, laughing gently and then saying, "Well I think my stomach just answered your question. Have you eaten anything since you've been out in the wild?" Then she looked ashamed, like she had just taunted him or something. "I'm sorry, do you want me to go catch us some fish? It shouldn't be entirely diffucult. Right now, especially! They love the rain. They come to the surface when it falls." She smiled welcomely, hoping genuinely that he would accept her offer. wordcount: 301
