Fellixe sat under the tree, looking off into the distance and wondering where her mate was. Even though he was still fairly new at hunting, she had to rely on him to to bring her food. She was now heavy with pups, and she could have them any time.
Before they were together, and even a little bit after they were, Kenryoku had been almost totally dependent on her. It was now her turn to be dependent on him. Everything had been going fairly well, until recently, and so she was a little more anxious than normal. She didn't want anything to happen to her dear Kenryoku.
Her stomach growled ravenously, and she decided to lounge back in the grass. It won't be long... she told herself. Her abdomen felt a few kicks to it and she groaned, but managed to smile weakly. She was excited about her pups that were on the way, but she was also a bit scared. She would have never had pups if she knew how bad things were going to get in Canaan.
She looked up as she heard a chopping noise above her, and through the leaves she could make out the figure of a black helicopter. She hoped that Kenryoku was hiding from it. Afterall, his sense of hearing was very well advanced over his eyesight, which was obsolete altogether.
She flattened herself to the ground, sighing and watching the chopper fly away into the distance. Good... she thought. That's the opposite way Kenryoku went.

His dull green eyes stared at the nothingness his world resided in, ignoring what sights others would have stopped to gaze at. Ears perked and alert to noises around him while his nose focused on the various smells of the field. Flowers, more flowers, the dirt and of course food, and food was good.
He currently was searching for food to feed to his growing mate. A small smile came to his maw as he thought of her; who would've thought that he'd even be able to survive on his own, let alone start a family? He often doubted his abilities, knowing he wasn't capable of much in his position. How would his pups think of him when they saw his disabilities, how he couldn't see them? He tore his mind from his insecurities, knowing they were irrelevant at the moment; he had a task at hand.
He could smell rabbits and small field rats scampering around, he could hear small birds chirping in the distance, as well as a lone squirrel running around; perhaps it was searching for food to store for the oncoming winter. The mutt knew that small prey never worked for him, they were too quick for his still-developing senses. He decided on the rabbits for now; he couldn't outrun them, but he could certainly outsmart their senses.... he hoped.
He launched himself forward quickly as a rabbit edged closer to him, nearly missing as he tripped over his own extended paw. Clumsiness was a common thing for him, but he never thought it'd get this bad.
As he tracked the rabbits again to attempt to get another for himself, slowly proceeding towards them, trying his best to not make any noise, a great noise broke the calming chirps and breezes within the meadow. It didn't sound close, but a chill still ran up his spine; this was the sound of a human machine. 'It's still quite a bit away..' he thought to himself, trying to lower his heart rate to keep his cover. The rabbits were busy listening to the copter's passing, perhaps miles away. He worried, hoping it was nowhere near Fellixe; no humans around here were remorseful, after all. He grabbed the deceased rabbit and bolted.
After several falls he'd finally made it back, both panting and trying to hold the rabbit still in his mouth. "Oi, are you alright?" he asked, slightly muffled by the small mammal. He dropped it before her, sniffing around before giving her his full attention. "I heard something passing by." He could have very well been overreacting, but with how dangerous it was in this land and even within this pleasant field he could never be sure. He sat beside her, waiting for her to reply.
He had greatly underestimated the danger on his first visit, but he'd quickly recognized the true problem when he sniffed his first land mine out and realized it was an explosive; an explosive lying there to end the lives of innocent canines like him and Fellixe, maybe even their future pups. He wouldn't let them be hurt; he wouldn't do nothing and watch them get hurt as his father had.
