She had been asking him if he was alright, and he had nodded quickly, wanting to get over the slope of terror quickly. He felt the mud ruining his "vision" and making him filthy again, and he sighed, knowing he'd have to clean himself off again some time. For now, he'd live with being covered with mud; there was no way he was blinding himself in that water again so soon to get dirty again.
He'd noticed that Fellixe had been quiet. He wondered if something was wrong.. or rather, if he'd done something wrong. Was he being too aloof now? He knew he wasn't being too talkative.. Maybe she had gotten bored of his silence? OR, she could just be feeling sick.. he thought, knowing his thoughts sometimes twisted the truth out of proportion..
He'd finally gotten up that slope, and he was relieved beyond belief. He despised mud nearly as much as he despised his father and humans. Sure, it was just wet dirt to the ones with sight, but to him it was an unclear area that could lead to either danger or the right path. There sure was a lot he had to get used to, but he was determined to be possibly the only blind mutt to survive in the wild. He sighed to himself, listing the many things he had to avoid so he wouldn't die.
He quickly smacked himself in his head, knowing that he was being stupid for going off-topic in his own head. He cleared his throat, ready to ask her a question for probably the first time since they met. "Are you alright Fellixe?" He generally couldn't find a different way to say that without it sounding rude to him. "You've been.. quiet."
He knew he wasn't generally good at talking at all. He was used to being on his own, talking to himself to avoid going crazy from the silence.. if he was in his "good" mood, that is. He found it odd that he'd been in control of himself lately. He usually wasn't in a good mood for an hour let alone a day. He knew that sooner or later, he had to tell Fellixe of his "condition". He didn't know if she'd leave if he told her about it, which made him want to put it off for longer.
He didn't know when they'd arrive at that meadow, or even how long they had been walking, but he hoped it was soon. He needed to calm down before he turned into a nervous wreck from his continuous negative thinking..

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. She walked on edge and very quiet the entire journey, until they finally came upon the endlessly rolling field. Instead of being beautiful and vibrant with golds and yellows, it was instead in its winter phase; grey, tawny, and dry. But it was contrary of depressing; it was a beautiful mess. This place was the perfect spot for rest and relaxation, calmness and still. She pawed her way out of the shady overlook of trees and stretched her head toward the sky, breathing the fresh air. She didn't want to tell Ken about the numerous bombs planted underground. She didn't want to spoil the crispness of the ever closing evening. When he told her that she was being quiet, she didn't answer right away. In this stage she was being more cautious and thinking things through to the greatest of their extent before she spoke. About five minutes passed before she realized that if she didn't reply soon, he might start to be frightened. At this time she had been walking up and down gentle slopes on her way to a single tree that spanned across the sky; the perfect shelter, she thought. Also maybe the spot with fewer bombs. Her gaze pointed to the ground and she sighed. "I'm... alright, Ken." Her voice trailed away in an echo, and she finally reached underneath the tree, where they were sheltered from the glittering snowflakes falling fluffily onto them. They began to melt as soon as she walked underneath the towering tree, and she shook them off. She placed herself at the base of the tree, lying down thoughtfully. She considered the downfalls; she could be rejected. That would make her relationship with him awkward. Many others swarmed about her mind, and she could feel a know forming in her stomach. "I... want to talk to you, Ken... I've been thinking about something, and I can't seem to get it out of my mind..." She got choked up at the end of her sentence. She had never confessed anything like this to anyone else before. She hoped he wasn't already freaked out by all of her abnormal behavior.

Her silence was making him nervous. Had he angered her in some way? Her aura seemed to say she was nervous. But of what? It couldn't possibly be of him.. could it? He doubted that he looked a even a bit fierce, especially to a wolf. Then again, he had no idea what he looked like now, and he barely remember how he had looked as a pup, so he knew his opinion really didn't count. But it wasn't as if he'd admit that to himself..
He felt them stop somewhere, and he immediately curled up right where he was standing. His paws felt like ice, so to speak. The ground was soft, but the snow was making his paws extremely cold. He began to lick his paws, wanting the cold to go away. But, it helped to take his mind off of his panicked thinking, he had to admit... for a while, at least. His thoughts went from making his paws warm back to what was wrong with her. He would've called it obsessing if it wasn't himself he was thinking that about..
The silence was slicing his nerves. He was on edge after a minute of it. I did something wrong... I did something wrong.. It kept ringing in his head. But he didn't know what he did, and he wasn't going to ask either. He didn't know if she'd be angry if he did ask, and he knew an angry female's wrath knew no bounds.
She was having a hard time talking to him, he could gather. She was choking out sentences at him. His heart beat quickened, thinking she was going to say she was leaving him. How'd he survive on his on in this land that had danger at every turn? He spaced out, thinking eerily about those scenarios. He could blow up because of a bomb implanted in the ground... Or he could be attacked by wolves, which he wouldn't deny could happen.. Or he could be shot by humans and used as a room ornament or statue.. He felt a shiver go down his spine at the last thought. He didn't want to be a room ornament!
But he couldn't exactly stop her either, if it were true that she were leaving. She had volunteered to help him, so it was her choice whether she wanted to leave or not. He felt oddly upset while thinking about that. He tried his best to hide his worry, masking it as a smile. "I'm all ears," he smiled, sitting down, and gazing over to he was guessing she was. He wasn't off that much this time. It at least looked like he was facing the right way.

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. She looked up at the mutt as he stood before her and she took in a deep breath. She speculated him for just a few more minutes, confirming in her mind that yes, she really did want to share her feelings with him. Her heart pounded almost plainly audibly as she searched for the words in her heart, and then rapidly she pulled them out. "Ken," her eyes getting moist, "I... have a strange attraction to you. Before you came along, my sole purpose was to help all of the dogs be free and reach the climax of their lives. But there was always a torn patch that needed something sown over it. It's like you're the patch, dear." She hoped this didn't confuse him, although she didn't turn her head to find out. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut until the sparks of color started to palette across the inside of her eyelids. She opened her mouth and said, "You're like the moon in my life, which I have always found quite captivating. I always wanted to reach out to it; because it seemed oh-so-lonely. But now-" She lifted her paw up and placed it on his chest, feeling his beating heart beneath ebony fur. "Now I have the moon. I was wondering... if maybe..." a cold chill ran through her spine and she shivered. The fur on her tail was spiked out with the nervousness of talking like this; was she even making sense? She felt like she was a philosopher talking in rhymes and riddles, metaphors and things that most people wouldn't understand. She didn't know Kenryoku well enough to know how literate his poetic side was, but at this time she was hoping it was very. She swallowed hard and fought against all of her self-conscious thoughts. "Ken, can I be the stars in your sky? Can we be together forever?" There. That last line could be clear to anyone. Now all she could do was wait for him to either accept, reject, or think about this decision. She hoped desperately that he would say yes, although if the relationship was one-sided she would want him to move on. No one should be stuck in a relationship that they're unhappy with. Her paws drew mindless spirals in the dirt beneath her. She speared a half-rotted leaf with her claw and tore it into fourths with two easy swipes, trying to think of a way to make the best of every possible outcome this could bring. The anticipation was killing her. She wished her mother was here to tell her if this was alright or not; now was the time that she regretted moving from the arctic.

He'd expected the worst when he caught the salty scent of tears. He could feel his heart at his throat, and he felt a feeling of dread.. which ended quickly. What she was saying was almost a poem, and he could hear what she was indirectly saying. He'd.. never expected her to feel that way. He was.. surprised to say the least. He seriously never thought he'd even be considered as a suitor to her, especially not when compared to a wolf. He could only stare blankly as she continued.
She'd placed her paw over his heart. He felt his heart beat quicken once again, and he was in a mix of astonishment and a sort of happiness. She wasn't leaving him. She wanted to be with him- the mutt. He didn't know what expression he was giving off, but he could bet he looked surprised, however that looked like. He knew he had to reply, but he knew he was no great talker. He'd have to find his words, and then say them in a way that would get his point across.
"F-Fellixe.." he stuttered at first, still trying to find his voice. "Before I met you.. I'd always been a failure. I couldn't even protect my family.." He could always clearly remember the moment he saw his mother shot by his owner. He'd always felt it was his fault. In his eyes, as the first-born pup, he should've been a protector from the start.. "Then I went blind, and I completely gave up. I kept saying I was going to be a wolf, but I could never try.. I didn't have the will to. But.. you gave me the hope to try at it, and you volunteered to help me: the blind mutt."
He hated beating around the bush, but he knew he had to show his point of view. He knew he talked little, keeping most of his thoughts to himself. He was amazed that that didn't get her to walk off from him. "In my world I'm stuck in the pitch black, and I seem to be the moon in your world. But I'm seeing how I'm the moon now." He felt the irony in that statement. "The darkness in my world has been lighting up lately. You don't need to ask to be the stars because in my world, you have been."
He didn't know if he should draw close to her or not, being as inexperienced with others as he was. He wasn't sure if he was making sense, but he hoped he did. He didn't want to ruin the moment, as he usually did. "For a while now, I've been wanting to stick with you. But.. I convinced myself that no one could possibly look at me that way." He didn't know how to put it very well, but he was trying his best. "I'm willing to risk it all to be with you." He was hoping he did alright, being no good with words.
Before he knew it, he was up, waiting for her reaction.

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. After she heard him confirm his feelings about her as well, her heart felt lighter than ever. All of the reasons why she supposedly could never be with him suddenly dissipated, and so did her wolf-standard. Why would she ever shelter herself from some of the nicest and misunderstood creatures? Kenryoku was amazing to her; when she looked into his eyes, what she saw was far from a blank stare... it was thoughtfulness, thankfulness, wisdom beyond age, and a past that had molded him. They were both smart enough to take on the world, and now they could do it together. She removed her pulsing paw from his chest and placed it on the ground as she lifted herself up as well. She had never been involved with the opposite sex before in all of her life, so she had no idea how to act. Perhaps I should just be myself... she reasoned, after all, it's how he's come to take such adoration to me. One thing that especially made her happy was that she was beautiful on the outside, and she knew very well that she could capture anyone's heart that she desired, although Ken couldn't visibly see her. All he could "see" was her heart, her soul, her words. And that's what he liked. He hadn't fallen for her beauty, he had fallen for her personality, just like she had fallen for his. She decided that she might mimic the other wolf mates that she used to see. She always watched them in confusion as they took at each other's side and stayed close, as a unit. How they always seemed to be near whenever the other needed them. So she flicked her tail, a bit nervous and on edge, and turned around, almost as if she was plastered to his side. As she stood there for about ten seconds, her mind cleared and instinct took over. She reached up and nuzzled his neck with her ears back, whining slightly. "I love you," the words gushed out unexpectedly. Only half conscious of why her body was making these movements and why she spoke without her brain's consention, her ears flipped back and forth in bewilderment. Her jaws opened and she clasped a tuft of the fur on his throat, tugging playfully and gently. She let go and licked his chin once, hoping that she wasn't invading his personal space more than he wished. Like butterflies were colonized inside of her and trying to get out, she reached up and tugged on one of his ears playfully. She jumped over his back and took off, wondering if he knew what she was trying to do. She loped away at an even pace through the dead weeds and laughed hard; she could never remember feeling so light. Her tail wagged quickly and continuously as her heart raced. I'm acting like a pup, she thought. And she smiled.

At this point in his life, he wished he could see. But then again, his lack of sight had brought Fellixe into his life, even if it did take a few years. He was grateful for that, at least. He only wished he had better social skills, so he'd at least be able to converse with her without having to think a sentence over a few times before actually saying it. But he'd learn, he guessed.
He felt odd when he felt her nuzzle his neck. He didn't classify it as the bad kind of odd though; it just gave him that light feeling he'd been getting as of late. His heart beat had been quickening its pace very much, and he was pretty sure it was becoming noticeable. He was not used to much contact from others, but he could tell he wasn't the only one. She was very nervous too, he could tell; he wondered if this was the first time she felt this kind of affection for another as well.
In the years that he had lived, both as a pet and a stray, he'd never felt this calmed and happy. Maybe he was born to be blind and turn feral. Maybe his life wasn't all so bad.
He'd never been told he was loved; not since his mother had passed away, at least. He was surprised, but it didn't show too much in him. He'd sort of gotten used to the back-to-back surprises by now. He didn't doubt the surprises would end here though, and he didn't want them to.
"I love you as well," he whispered; it was the only short sentence he knew he didn't have to think over. She'd been the second wolf in his life to show kindness toward him, willingly conversing with him. She was caring, which he learned when she fed him those herbs to try an ease the pain he was feeling in his paws and convinced him to take his bandages off. He was sure that she didn't just see him as a useless blind mutt like he had seen himself as before.
He could feel Fellixe pulling at his throat in a soft manner, then switching to licking his chin and pulling at his ear, and he allowed her to, knowing she was merely playing. He'd never gotten to play with his siblings much, but this was how he remembered it feeling like. His mind nagged him, telling him it could have another meaning as well..
It didn't take her too long to bound off, jumping over him. He stood up quickly, following her scent, tail weakly wagging behind him. He hadn't been happy enough for a tail wag in years; he'd have to celebrate later. He quickly caught up to her, paws thumping slightly against the ground as he walked. He gave her a small smile, washing away his past fears. He was ready for a new life, whether it brought him problems or not.

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. When she looked over her shoulder to see Ken following her so happily, she couldn't stop laughing. This was the best moment of her life, so happy, so carefree. She felt as if, instead of running over the soft earth, she was floating. When her head turned back around, there was a branch directly in front of her and she was unable to stop. Her paw got caught underneath it, and she flipped completely over, along with throwing the branch over to the other side. She lay there in a crumpled heap, still laughing with the air knocked out of her chest. Ken was so close behind her that she tripped him in mid-step as well. She gasped and her ears pressed back. She reached forward and licked him sweetly on the nose. "I'm sorry dear... I tripped. I wasn't paying attention." The fall couldn't have hurt him with this soft dirt below their paws. She started to laugh again as she looked over Ken to see the branch about three meters away. Did I... really flip that all the way over there?? she was even laughing inside her mind. Her eyes closed and her legs stretched out in a more comfortable position. She lyed there for one minute, and then rolled over with her belly up. Her paws were bent at her chest and her back legs hung loosely behind her. She wagged her tail and watched as the wagging disturbed the leaves and weeds behind her. Then she rolled over onto her side, outstretching her arms to Ken's neck and chest, peering into his face. "What do you think I look like?" she asked. She knew it was unexpected to ask such a thing, but she was curious. He had never truly seen her concrete form, only her emotions and personality. Did he know she was a white wolf, born into the arctic, or did he see her in a completely different light? She was ready for his answer to take her by surprise. After all, he was robbed of all light. She wondered if somehow if would offend him. No! something inside her cried out. Since you are his mate, you speak your feelings. She nodded once to herself, knowing that this was true. She couldn't conceal herself away. She had to be an open book to him. They would learn to love each other with time... and a part of her wished that this time would come soon. It was mating season, that is, until the end of February. For forever the challenge and joy of raising pups always intrigued her. She contemplated on this for a moment; Tiny, squirmy fur balls crawling on top of her, annoying the heck out of her, but deep inside she would love it and never want them to change. She liked the visual. Ken would have one on him as well and it would be on his head, pawing him over and over again. She closed her eyes as the snow fell lightly on her fur, piling up the longer she stayed there.

He felt so light, running around the meadow with no worries on his mind. For once his mind didn't wander to something completely unrelated to what he was doing.
He felt himself hit something, and he nearly fell, lost for words. He managed to catch himself before completely hitting the ground, and he just lied there. He was on the ground, so he might as well relax. But he wondered, what had he tripped over? It had been soft, he could gather. He then heard Fellixe apologize to him, and he figured it was her on the ground. He felt warm when she licked his nose, and he found himself frozen on the spot. He quickly shook it off, reminding himself that he was alright and returned the lick quickly, before she moved out of his way once again. He just hoped she was okay, since she'd taken a fall. "It's okay," he smiled, "I know very well how much someone can get distracted."
He could hear her moving beside him, and he wondered what she was doing. He relaxed himself, yawning a bit before he remembered where he was. He'd forgotten it was winter, and that it was cold outside. He didn't feel the least cold though, and he found that odd. He wouldn't think too much into it, or he'd soon find himself as cold as ice again.
He suddenly found himself being asked a question, and it was one he really didn't know how to answer. He'd never really thought about what she looked like much. "I've never really wondered about what you looked like," he answered honestly. Trust was the starting piece of a relationship, after all.. Or so he'd heard.. "I'm not too good with picturing things since I lost my eyesight before I turned a year old, so some things are still nameless to me. I don't remember things during that time too well, either.. I can try, though."
He could vaguely remember what the form of some canine was. He remembered the form of the face almost clearly, because he remembered studying his parents faces, seeing how different dogs looked from wolves. Colors were fading.. Brown looked like red in his mind, and yellow was orange. None of them had names to him besides black, really. Something told him those colors were wrong, and he believed it. He sighed, knowing he had to do this truthfully, no matter how twisted and odd it would sound to someone with vision.
The canine form came up in his mind, and he began to think up colors. What color is nice..? he wondered, head hurting from all the thinking that was beyond his limits. All the colors looked the same to him.. They were all dark, and black was the only one he remembered daily and remembered the name for. He knew for sure that black was not nice. Brown..? He knew that some soil was colored brown. But he knew that if he thought about it, he'd over think it. He had to come up with it on the spot.
"I think.. you're my height, more or less.." He started with something basic, not even knowing how tall he was at all. "You're soft, and I learned that from tripping over you," he chuckled slightly. But.. color? He couldn't think up a color for her; he knew too little of the colored world. "I think my world's too twisted for colors.."
He felt bad for not being able to finish his thought for her. Picturing things that he had not seen in the past was near impossible to him. He didn't know what she looked like, nor could he guess it, but he loved her nonetheless. Would she be angered that he couldn't picture her completely?

I'll miss the winter... A world of fragile things. She smiled at his effort. She could tell that he wanted to see... but he couldn't. She decided to tell him. She looked deep into his numb, yet kindly stare, wondering if he could feel the gaze that she was giving him, and then began to speak. "My eyes are golden, like honey almost. I'm all white," she said lightly, "Like the snow. Did you ever see snow?" she imagined he might remember that. First snows were always a big thing in a pup's life... that is, unless he might've been born during the winter. Then he might not know. She quickly recovered her sentence and began analyzing things that he might find interesting. "I'm an Arctic wolf, and that's why my fur's so thick. You see, I'm a bit on the strange side. My family loves the snow; my species is supposed to love the snow. But I much prefer the sun and warm. That's how I found Canaan, after all." She etched closer to him, now feeling his easy breaths escaping. She closed her eyes. "You're mainly grey and black. Did you know that you have green eyes?" she giggled. Her mind started wandering in places that she was shy to talk about, and her ears fell to her head.
She muttered under her breath, yet loud enough for him to hear it, "What randomly colored pups we might have..." She blushed under her fur and she looked up at him. She knew that she said it too loud. She was embarrassed, but also happy. The time was coming for them to have their own pups, but she was in no rush. After all, they had plenty of time for that. Was it so wrong to just want to lay on her side next to him, just staring? Her tail wagged gently and the wind silently told her that the snow would begin to fall harder soon. She figured the best place to find shelter would be under the tree. It was wide, like one of those human umbrellas, and it would keep the majority of the snow out from under it. She rolled over and stood up, nudging Ken as she did so.
"The wind is telling me that we're in for a lot of oncoming snow," she said. She turned to him, her mate, and continued. "I guess that the best place for us to go might be under the tree... where we're sheltered... and also out of view from everything." Her voice trailed off. She was suggesting things in a very abnormal and seducing way. She growled to herself. Then she thought well, he is my mate. I have every right to seduce him if I want to. she laughed out loud. It was humorous to her, but Ken was going to think that she was going mad. She took one big sniff, the cold stinging her olfactory glands. She sneezed and turned around, tugging on Ken's neck fur. "Follow me," she said with a smile plastered on her face. She turned and walked slowly back to the tree, taking her sweet time.

His mind was overloading, trying to figure and sort out all the colors being thrown at him. Golden was foreign to him; White was drawing a blank as well. And what in the world did honey look like? But she mentioned snow, and he figured out what white looked like. "Yes, I remember the first snow back 'home'." He felt that he could relate to someone with sight at least, because he had remembered his first interaction with snow. "Unless the snow has changed since I last saw it."
He was beginning to get interested when she mentioned her species. He hadn't known there were different types of wolves; they all seemed the same to him. He couldn't imagine a group of wolves living in an area of all snow, but he knew it was probably because he was part dog; his coat wasn't long or layered well enough to survive and strive in the cold for long. That made him wonder if he was a different 'species' of wolf than her.
He could feel her moving closer to him, and he smiled a bit, feeling at peace for once. He barely knew what he looked like, so he was surprised when she started speaking of how he looked. I'm black? he thought to himself, wanting to laugh at the irony. And he did. He had hated that color for being his only 'view' every day, and he turned out to be that color with a lighter version of itself mixed in. When the color green was mentioned, he only remembered it because of the saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side." So his eyes were the color of grass..?
At the mention of pups, his ears immediately perked. Pups? he thought to himself, considering them. They'd probably be the different shades of black- or rather, the darker shades of white if he looked at it a different way. And he wondered, would she like it if they inherited his eyes? He was unsure whether they would be more wolf than dog, but those eyes would possibly be a giveaway as to their bloodline if they were rare. But he wondered why she was mentioning them first of all.
His thoughts were broken up when he felt her nudge him, talking about a snow storm, possibly. The way she spoke about the tree though, seemed different. She laughed randomly, and he rose a brow. His instincts began picking at him again, trying to decipher the hints for him. She was being suggestive of something, and as soon as he thought about it, he once again found himself a bit surprised. He'd completely forgotten it was winter- mating season for wolves. He now understood what she was saying to him.
Before he knew it, he was being pulled at by his neck. He quickly stood up and followed her as she asked, slowing to her pace.
